The goal of my research is to enhance the efficiency of numerical simulations in aerospace engineering by integrating advanced machine-learning techniques. I specifically focus on accelerating the preconditioning process in CFD using machine learning algorithms, particularly Graph Neural Networks and Reinforcement Learning. To this end, my research thesis consists of three main objectives:
1. developing Graph Neural Network-based preconditioners to improve convergence in CFD simulations;
2. developing reinforcement learning algorithms to optimize the selection of preconditioner parameters;
3. exploring multi-grid methods to optimize preconditioning techniques for large, sparse linear systems.

What have been some of the benefits of your fellowship experience; what have you enjoyed the most?
The fellowship has provided invaluable financial support and professional development resources, allowing me to devote my full attention to research.

What has been the most challenging aspects of the fellowship experience?
Balancing the demands of high-level research, coursework, and teaching assistant responsibilities has been my biggest challenge. Learning to prioritize tasks and manage my time efficiently—while still delivering quality mentorship to undergraduates—has required continuous refinement of my organizational skills.

What has surprised you about the fellowship experience?
I was pleasantly surprised by how much the fellowship emphasizes leadership and academic excellence, especially for women.

What is your vision for your future? What do you expect to be doing after you earn your degree?
Looking ahead, I am committed to advancing my research in accelerating computational methods for aerospace engineering through artificial intelligence. My long-term goal is to establish a career in academia, where I can continue to innovate at the intersection of AI and aerospace engineering.

What advice do you give current students considering applying to programs?
1. I think it is important to focus on clear and concise descriptions of research work.
2. Students should also improve the quality of their writing and CV.
3. Include research work and publications in the CV.
4. Lastly, the most important aspect is to give sufficient time to your application.

Amelia Earhart Fellowship from Zonta International: Globally, women make up around 25percent of the workforce in the aerospace industry. In an effort to carry out its mission that women have access to all resources and are represented in decision-making positions on an equal basis with men, Zonta International offers the Amelia Earhart Fellowship. The Fellowship was established in 1938 in honor of famed pilot and Zontian, Amelia Earhart. It is awarded annually to up to 30 women pursuing Ph.D./doctoral degrees in aerospace engineering and space sciences. Our Fellows have gone on to become astronauts, aerospace engineers, astronomers, professors, geologists, business owners, heads of companies, even Secretary of the US Air Force..
